A Company Founded in Love
Furniture 28 began with a baby, a dream, and a belief that our homes should be a reflection of love.
The Beginning
On April 6, 2020, our first daughter was born—and it felt as though the world had stopped.
Stores closed. Friends and families stayed apart. Lockdown had just begun, and no one knew what the future would hold. Our birth plan changed completely, our family had to wait to meet our newborn, and the uncertainty of that season was heavy.
And yet, somehow, it was also the most beautiful time to welcome a baby.
My husband had been laid off just one week before my due date. Suddenly, we had something that so many families never get: time. Time to slow down. Time to rest. Time to enjoy our new baby. Time to become a family.
She brought light into an uncertain season.
A Love for Home
I have always loved business and beautiful spaces.
I was rearranging rooms at five years old—not because anyone asked me to, but because creating order and beauty brought me peace. I still remember my tiny feet pressed against the wall, pushing with all my might to move my twin bed across the room. I was determined to create the space I imagined.
At six years old, I started my very first business: a daycare. My mom even printed flyers for me. My little sister was my only customer, but I was convinced I had a brilliant business plan—parents would drop off their children, I would supervise and play with them, and the parents would pay me.
For reasons I still don't fully understand, it never took off.
But the entrepreneurial spirit never left me.
I studied Interior Design in my early twenties and later continued my education in HR and Project Management. My dream was always the same: one day, I would own a store where my children could run around while I worked—a place where my love for design and my love for family could exist together.
Love & Company
After our daughter arrived, and after many long dog walks discussing what was next, my husband gave me the most meaningful gift—his full encouragement and $5,000 to begin bringing my dream of owning a store to life.
He helped me set up the business licence, but the rest was up to me.
I remember telling him, “This is what I’ve always wanted to do. I just don’t know how to start.”
And honestly, I didn’t know.
I didn’t know how to build an online store. I didn’t know how to source products. I didn’t know how furniture and décor would make their way from suppliers into customers’ homes.
But I knew why I wanted to do it.
Love.
I was so deeply in love with our new baby. I wanted the business to be a true labour of love, and I believed our homes should be a reflection of love—the places where we gather, create memories, and share life with the people who matter most.
And so, Love & Company was born.
A New Chapter
The first years were full of learning. I found wonderful suppliers and began sharing beautiful home décor and furnishings with customers across Canada and into the United States. I quickly discovered that running a business was about much more than finding beautiful products.
Shipping became one of my biggest challenges.
I packed items myself in makeshift boxes, learning firsthand that every detail matters—from the piece itself to the moment it arrives in someone's home.
Many of my first customers were friends, family, and members of our local community. I was often preparing shipments with my daughter beside me or making personal deliveries while learning everything along the way.
I will always be grateful to those early customers who believed in me before everything was perfect.
Furniture 28
Over the next few years, our family grew. We welcomed another baby girl and built a new life together.
But the dream never fully left me.
I felt I was still being called back to it—a quiet longing, a sense of knowing that this was something I was meant to continue. It wasn’t finished. There was still something more to build.
I went back to the drawing board.
In 2024, Furniture 28 was born—with a clearer vision and a stronger foundation.
Today, we partner exclusively with Canadian suppliers based in Vancouver who share our commitment to quality, thoughtful design, and craftsmanship. I am able to visit warehouses, see and touch the pieces we offer, and ensure they reflect the standards we believe belong in a home.
We have carefully curated a collection built around what we truly value: fewer, better pieces. Furniture and décor you love today and still want to live with for years to come.
Why 28?
The number 28 has followed our family for years. It is my birthday, my husband’s birthday, and the birthday of my brothers, brothers-in-law, and grandparents. It is a number I seem to see again and again.
But more importantly, it reminds me of a promise:
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
— Romans 8:28
